What is Darkdawn?

Darkdawn is a vast, fictional sci-fi Universe. Created by game designer Leonardo Ceballos, it will serve as the setting for many adventures across a variety of media, including short stories, several types of video games, and potentially novels, pencil and paper RPG supplements, and more.

Darkdawnonline.com serves as the main hub of all things Darkdawn. Stick with us as it grows from a simple blog site to a full-featured entertainment product in its own right; more coming soon.

What is Darkdawn about?

October 6th, 2012

In its simplest terms, Darkdawn is the story of a group of humans that has survived the destruction of the Earth and is struggling to create a new interstellar civilization.

They are led by the UCTE Government, a democratic institution that represents a union of the various nation-states on the planet Exodus, and the leaders of the many newly-established human colonies. Also shaping events is the New Institute of Science, a mega-corporation dedicated to promoting Terran interests and furthering all human knowledge. At the heart of the Institute stands the secretive Erudite Order, created from the remnants of the original Institute and the knights and nobility of the old, Earth-centered Terran Empire.

As the various human factions create their shining new society, they are threatened both from within their borders and beyond. The old human failings have followed them all the way to Exodus, and the way forward is not always clear. The vastness of space is filled with alien civilizations both hostile and benign, and dotted with the mysterious remnants of ancient cultures that failed or simply vanished from the galaxy.

From the gleaming towers of majestic space stations, the leaders of the New Institute gaze out into the void and worry. While most of humanity is content to forget the past and embrace a bright new future, they remember the truth:

The dark force that brought the Old Terran Empire to its knees and shattered the Earth is still out there, waiting among the stars.
