The Darkdawn Viewer is an app for mobile touchscreen devices that serves as a companion to this webpage. Created using the Unity engine, it allows you to interact with, and learn more about, certain objects in the Darkdawn universe. Currently the app can be used to see some of the combat vessels from the upcoming Darkdawn: Encounters mobile game. As the game reaches completion, more ships will be added to the app.
The Darkdawn viewer operates in two modes: standard, and augmented. In the standard mode, you can simply manipulate the ships by dragging your fingers. Use two fingers to pinch-zoom your view in or out.
In augmented mode, the Viewer becomes an Augmented Reality app. Simply print out one of the cards below, and while in augmented mode, point your phone or tablet’s rear-facing camera at the card.
Note: To function correctly in augmented mode, your device must have a rear-facing camera.
The Darkdawn viewer app will be compatible with Android and iOS based devices. It will be released soon on the Apple Appstore, and Google Play.
Android device users can preview the Darkdawn Viewer right now. Please note that this is beta software, still being tested, and no guarantees are made about its functioning. To use the app, you will need to set up your phone to accept apps from “unknown sources” (in the “developer options” settings menu) and must be able to install .apk files (standard Android app files).
To install the app, download it and transfer it to your device. Alternatively, use a scanner app on your device to read the QR code below and come directly to this website, then tap the link above to download.
To use the Darkdawn Viewer in Augmented mode, you will need to print out a special image target. You can print this target out in any size larger than a playing card, and will work normally if printed in either color or black and white.
